Raised in North Carolina by her grandparents, Dottie dreams of attending Howard University in Washington DC, the city where her parents met and fell in love. Something about the DMV people, music, and culture calls to her, and she knows she has got to become a part of it. On her magical journey to Chocolate City, Dottie makes friends, overcomes adversity, and discovers the go-go in her heart.
